Brown Dwarf Planet: Half-Star Half-Planet Brown Dwarf Discovered

The brown dwarf planet discovered by a team of French and Canadian astronomers is the coldest brown dwarf that has been detected to date. Brown dwarf planets are celestial bodies that have properties resembling half-star and half-planet. Brown dwarfs are isolated bodies in that they do not orbit another star. The first brown dwarf was verified in the mid-90's but what makes this one unique is it's surface temperature which is estimated to be the coldest of any brown dwarf planet found so far. Along with brown dwarfs there are also red, yellow, white, and black dwarfs. Of those five classifications brown dwarfs are the only ones not considered a star although black dwarfs are former white dwarfs that no longer emit light or heat. Studying brown dwarfs may help astronomers develop better techniques for finding and analyzing extrasolar planets.
